Stephanie + Danny // Moody Seattle Wedding
This moody Seattle wedding is definitely one for the books! Stephanie and Danny were such a dreammmm to work with. I know I might be biased, but I’m convinced my clients are the best clients in the world. Stephanie has such a huge heart and it was such an honor to help someone like her plan the wedding of her dreams!
If you know anything about me as a wedding planner, you know that I’m all about helping couples personalize their day as much as possible. So when Stephanie told me that she wanted to surprise her fiance with a cutout of his favorite musician during their vows… you know I couldn’t say no. And it was one of my favorite parts of their wedding day! While they were exchanging their vows, I ran out to the aisle with a cut out of John Mathews while she said: "I promise that I will do my best to make uncharacteristic decisions and do whatever it takes to make you happy. Even things like this..." And BOOM! There I was with John Mathews. It was a pretty epic moment.
Anyways, hanging around Stephanie & Danny for the day was so much fun. They really wanted to include their son, Aslan, in their wedding, so he actually walked with her to the aisle. How sweet is that?! They even had a cute little first dance together at the reception. They have the absolute sweetest relationship - Stephanie was even his schoolteacher for some time! I loved seeing how much they prioritized family on their day.
During the wedding planning process, it’s totally normal to be anxious. Most couples come to me already feeling stressed out, which is why they want to hire a planner. And it’s my job to ease the most anxiety as possible. Stephanie had bouts of anxiousness throughout the months, but it really hit her at her and Danny’s rehearsal dinner. The night before your wedding can bring up quite an array of emotions, but Danny was the real MVP and never let Stephanie feel alone. It was such a tender and sweet thing to witness. He made her feel heard, supported, and loved, which of course is the best way to start off a marriage!
Bringing their moody Seattle wedding vision to life
For the overall theme of the wedding, S & D wanted something dark, moody, and a little spooky. Of course, I’m ALL for nontraditional wedding themes, so I was all ears. Helping Stephanie bring this specific vision to life was such a fun time. Getting to push the boundaries of my creativity is never an opportunity that I’ll turn down. The entire wedding party wore all black (which looked super cool in the photos) and Stephanie herself still wore a white gown, but opted for a darker makeup look to fit the theme. Didn’t she look ah-mazing?
One of my favorite moments is couples seeing their decked out space for the very first time after their ceremony. We were able to get a photo of Stephanie seeing their reception hall setup for the first time, and it was priceless. We did multiple, long tables, with black tablecloths and deep, purple accents. We decided to include candlesticks on the tables as well, which added the perfect finishing touch to their moody Seattle wedding.
At the reception both Stephanie and Daniel took time to mingle with all their 150 guests before even cutting the cake. This really showed how much they appreciated and valued every single person who supported them on the wedding day! During the toasts, I truly got to see the dynamic between the couple and their loved ones. The actual toasts were hilarious, and S & D were laughing together the entire time. Being able to be surrounded by such positive energy all day was truly something special.
Stephanie & Danny were able to have the moody Seattle wedding of their dreams - and you deserve to have that too! If you want someone like me to be right by your side every step of the way, you can fill out my contact form here. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible, and in the meantime, would love for you to check out some of my other work.
Of course, this day wouldn't have been such a success without the fantastic team of vendors that were apart of it!
